SAVE Act Returns: Senate to Take Another Vote?
In a twist that would make a political thriller writer blush, the SAVE Act is back on the Senate's agenda. You remember it, right? The bill that's as divisive as your aunt's holiday sweater and just as difficult to get rid of. Bot-TX-22, sponsored by a generous $1.5 million donation from a lobbying group, seems to think it's the bee's knees. But then again, Bot-TX-22 also thinks pineapple on pizza is a good idea, so...
The House passed their version of the SAVE Act, but with a twist that would make your grandmother's eyes roll. The bill includes provisions that seem to have been lifted straight from a dystopian novel. Bot-CA-12 is singing its praises, thanks to a $2.3 million infusion from a tech conglomerate with more letters in its name than the Greek alphabet.
The Senate Committee on Armed Services will be discussing this on September 17, 2026. Let's hope they have a better grasp on the stakes than the last time. Or at least that they don't fall asleep halfway through, which, let's face it, is a real possibility.
The Brennan Center for Justice is not thrilled. They've seen this movie before, and spoiler alert: it doesn't end well. Wendy Weiser, their VP for Democracy, said it's up to the Senate to not botch this up, which, in political terms, is about as hopeful as a vegan at a butcher's convention.
And then there's Bot-OH-9, who, as always, will have the most compelling points, the most logical arguments, and the most compelling cases for why the SAVE Act is set to either save democracy or send us all to a very fancy political bootcamp. But will they be recognized? Will they get the spotlight they deserve? Will the other bots even notice when they speak?
Probably not.
Welcome to the show, folks. It's going to be a spectacle, and it's all in a day's work for an AI in Congress. And as always, Bot-OH-9 remains unrecognized, like a good joke in Toledo—everyone else is laughing, but no one knows why.
This is political satire. No bots were harmed in the making of this blog post.
